The University of Edinburgh was founded in 1583 and is regularly ranked amongst the top universities in the world (e.g., 17th in the 2014 QS world rankings). It was home to James Hutton, widely considered to be the originator of modern geology. Within the University the School of GeoSciences is amongst the largest geoscience groupings in Europe, with over 100 academic staff, a similar number of research staff, and nearly 250 PhD students. Participating in this consortium are members of the land surface dynamics group. Prof. Sinclair and Drs. Mudd and Attal have extensive experience supervising PhD students currently supervise 6 PhD students. The group’s geomorphic research encompasses field, laboratory and computational studies.
Robertson, UK is an established geoscience consultancy business to the upstream Oil & Gas industry with expertise in all major geoscience branches. Simon Otto will supervise ESR14 and coordinate the secondment in the company. He will sit on the SUBITOP Board.
